Job Description

Rondout Valley Central School District is seeking a Behavior Analyst for a leave replacement to begin mid-November 2025 through June 30, 2026.  This is a district-wide position. However, the primary assignment will be at the district’s two elementary schools.

General Responsibilities:

The Behavior Analyst is responsible for developing, implementing, and evaluating behavioral interventions and supports for students with special needs. Key duties include:

  • Designing and implementing positive behavioral supports, contextual strategies, and intervention plans

  • Conducting functional behavioral assessments and direct observations of students and their learning environments

  • Developing and monitoring behavior support/intervention plans to promote positive student outcomes

  • Providing staff and parent training in applied behavior analysis and proactive behavior strategies

  • Supporting school teams and administrators in executing effective behavior instruction and intervention practices

  • Collecting and analyzing baseline and progress-monitoring data to evaluate student outcomes

  • Participating in interdisciplinary team meetings related to behavioral planning and review

  • Preparing written behavioral summaries and documentation to assist educators and administrators

  • Offering guidance for one-to-one support personnel when needed

  • Engaging in professional development and research to maintain current best practices

  • Maintaining required records and reports regarding behavioral concerns and student progress

The role is performed with considerable independent judgment under the general supervision of an administrative supervisor.

Minimum Qualifications: 

  • Bachelor’s degree or higher from a regionally accredited or NYS-registered college or university in:
    Applied Behavior Analysis, Education, Special Education, Social Work, Psychology, or a closely related field

  • Two (2) years of full-time (or equivalent part-time) experience working with individuals with special needs

  • Within that experience, at least one (1) year must include:

    • Conducting functional behavioral assessments

    • Implementing behavioral interventions and/or

    • Developing behavior support plans

  • Certification as a Board Certified Behavior Analyst — (BCBA, BCBA-D, or BCaBA)

  • NYSed Fingerprint Clearance 

Salary: Per Contract

Work Schedule: Monday–Friday, 8:30am - 3:40pm

Additional Duties: Performs other related tasks as assigned by the direct report and/or Superintendent.         


The Rondout Valley Central School District spans more than 150 square miles across the rural Mid-Hudson Valley. The District includes:

  • Two elementary schools (Grades K–3): Marbletown & Kerhonkson

  • One intermediate school (Grades 4–6)

  • One junior high school (Grades 7–8)
    (Intermediate and junior high schools are housed in the same building.)
