RONDOUT VALLEY CENTRAL SCHOOL DISTRICT is seeking an Assistant Principal at Rondout Valley High School.
Qualifications: New York State Certification, SBL or SAS and SED Fingerprint Clearance
Salary: Per Contract
General Responsibilities: The Assistant Principal assists the Principal with the organization, administration and supervision of all activities connected with the school.
The successful candidate will:
- Work as an active member of the leadership team to foster a culture of growth, collaboration, and a focus on student engagement in learning.
- Possess knowledge of current research-based practices and programs for teaching, learning, student support, assessment, and data analysis as well as current NYS learning standards.
- Conduct classroom observations and provide actionable feedback that supports improvement in instructional practices.
- Utilize student achievement and behavioral data to guide decision-making and school improvement decisions.
- Foster an inclusive school culture where all students feel safe, supported, and valued.
- Build relationships with teachers, counselors, support staff, community partners, and families to support student academic, behavioral, social, and emotional growth.
- Help coordinate school operations, safety planning, emergency response, and student discipline.
- Collaborate with staff and leadership team to reduce chronic absenteeism.
- Plan and implement professional learning opportunities to support continuous school improvement.
- Effectively use educational technology and data systems to improve teaching, learning, and educational effectiveness.
- Communicate effectively with administrators, faculty, support staff, families, and students.
- Receives, reviews, and responds to complaints or problems concerning individual pupils, staff, or the operation of the school.
- Supervises extracurricular events such as concerts, awards assemblies, open houses, parent teacher conferences, drama productions, dances, sporting events, etc.
- Encourages parental involvement in students' education and ensures effective communication with students and parents.
- Performs such additional duties as may be assigned by the Principal or Superintendent of Schools.
