The Rondout Valley Central School District is excited to announce a vacancy for a shared full-time (1.0 FTE) Assistant Principal role, split evenly between Rondout Valley High School (0.5 FTE) and Rondout Valley Intermediate School (0.5 FTE).
This dynamic position offers a unique opportunity for a passionate and dedicated educational leader to work across two vibrant school communities, supporting student achievement, fostering a positive school culture, and collaborating with a committed team of educators and families.
Qualifications: New York State Certification, SBL or SAS and SED Fingerprint Clearance
Salary: Per Contract
General Responsibilities: The Assistant Principal supports the principal in the organization, administration, and supervision of school programs, operations, and student services.
The ideal candidate will demonstrate:
- A proven record as an instructional leader
- A commitment to equity, inclusion, and student-centered learning
- A track record of successfully improving learning experiences for students and enhancing home/school communication
- Experience implementing research-based practices in teaching, learning, student support, and data-informed decision-making
- A strong ability to work with all aspects of building leadership, while working well under pressure
- Strong organizational, interpersonal, and communication skills
- Experience with restorative and trauma-informed practices when handling student discipline
- Commitment to character education and social-emotional development
- A collaborative spirit and sense of humor
Rondout Valley High School Responsibilities (0.5 FTE):
Hours: 7:30 AM – 11:00 AM
- Supervision of morning arrival, hallways, and cafeteria
- Respond to disciplinary referrals and manage conflict resolution
- Serve as 504 Plan Coordinator
- Coordinate Advanced Placement (AP) and Regents exams
- Provide administrative support to Night School and After-School Programs
- Conduct formal teacher observations and evaluations
- Participate in evening school events and activities
- Maintain building safety and operational oversight
Rondout Valley Intermediate School Responsibilities (0.5 FTE):
Hours: 11:30 AM – 2:30 PM
- Supervision of lunch, recess, and school transitions
- Respond to student referrals and manage conflict resolution
- Oversee bus referrals and transportation safety
- Provide support for after-school clubs and parent communications
- Engage in student discipline using restorative approaches
Other Duties: Additional responsibilities may be assigned by the Principal and/or Superintendent as needed.
