RONDOUT VALLEY CENTRAL SCHOOL DISTRICT is currently seeking TWO Special Education Teachers for secondary grades to join our team. The successful candidates will be responsible for providing quality education to students with possible physical, cognitive, and/or emotional disabilities in a secondary school setting. The candidates will work closely with students, parents, and other education professionals to create and implement Individualized Education Plans (IEPs) that meet the unique needs of each student.  
 
Qualifications: 

  • NYS Certification Special Education for secondary grades (Math/Science preferred)
  • NYSed Fingerprint Clearance
  • Excellent communication, interpersonal, and organizational skills
  • Ability to work collaboratively with a team of educational professionals
  • Adaptability and willingness to learn new teaching methods
  • Compassionate and patient with students and families
  • Able to work with students from different backgrounds and who have varying abilities
  • Experience working in Special Education at the secondary level is preferred.

Salary: Per Contract
 
General Responsibilities: Although the specific day-to-day duties of special education teachers can vary based on where they work and their students’ ages, common daily duties include the following:

  • Assess students’ diverse skills and educational needs while utilizing various teaching strategies and techniques to meet those needs
  • Assess student progress and adjust instruction accordingly
  • Maintain accurate and up-to-date records of student performance/progress, attendance, and behavior
  • Developing, modifying, and updating IEPs
  • Communicate regularly with parents, administrators, and other education professionals regarding student progress and needs
  • Attend and participate in staff meetings, professional development, and other school-related activities

Work Schedule: M-F, 7:25am -2:35pm

Additional Duties: Performs other related tasks as assigned by direct supervisor and/or Superintendent.

English to Speakers of Other Languages (ESOL) Teacher (Leave Replacement)

RONDOUT VALLEY CENTRAL SCHOOL DISTRICT is seeking a Full-time District Wide ESOL Teacher. This position is a leave replacement for the 2024/2025 school year.  
 
Qualifications: New York State Certification, English to Speakers of Other Languages (ESOL) & SED Fingerprint Clearance.  The ideal candidate fosters an inclusive and supportive learning environment.  They are adaptable, patient and culturally sensitive. 

Salary: Per Contract
 
General Responsibilities:  Evaluate, instruct, and improve English proficiency for students as well as serve as a resource for the District for English language concerns.  
 
Additional Duties: Performs other related tasks as assigned by the direct report and/or Superintendent.
